WORSHIP LEADER / MUSIC MINISTER Part Time

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

The Minister of Music position at Spruce Creek Baptist Church is a part-time, bi-vocational, salaried position. Must have a sense of calling to work with the music ministry and endeavor to bring excellence to the church’s worship of God. Must be consecrated to the Lord, called into the ministry, and faithful to the Lord’s church. Will be expected to work under the leadership and authority of the Pastor and in close conjunction with the Pianist/Organist and the Sound Room staff. Will be subject to a background check.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him
  • A commitment to the mission and vision of Spruce Creek Baptist Church.
  • Skilled in choral, vocal, and instrumental direction

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Plan, organize and lead the ministry of music

 

  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive music program inclusive of all age groups
  • Meet regularly with the Pastor to plan and evaluate weekly worship services and other opportunities for worship
  • Provide a worship service that incorporates both contemporary and traditional music that is blended together and complements each other
  • Lead the congregation in worship through singing during Sunday morning worship services
  • Prepare the Order of Service in conjunction with the Pastor’s message
  • Work with Sound Room Tech Team prior to Sunday to provide the song list and video’s for Sunday worship
  • Ensure that all the musical and technical aspects of the service advance the theme for the day
  • Oversee song and choral selection
  • Coordinate with ministry assistant each week to provide the song list for assistant to make slides
  • Plan, coordinate and lead special Holiday worship services such as Easter and Christmas Eve
  • Serve as resource for church members on music for weddings, funerals, memorial services, and special recognitions
  • Lead and direct the worship and special services, which includes preparing for and rehearsing the Choir
  • Coordinate and maintain the worship schedules of any music groups and/or individuals in the worship ministries of the church
  • Responsible for sound crew for special services (weddings, funerals, etc)
  • Develop the worship team/choir, including current and new members
  • Train, schedule, and rehearse Praise Team Members/choir, instrumentalists and vocalists

 

 

B. Administer the music ministry program

 

  • Prepare and recommend an annual music ministry budget to the Church Council for approval
  • Select and purchase all needed music, equipment and supplies according to the music budget and relevant church policies
  • Monitor the maintenance and replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies and instruments
  • Serve as a member of the Church Council to coordinate all music activities, projects and programs with other church organizations
  • Oversee all other aspects related to the music program
